Co-founder John Papola will be joining other emerging media pros to discuss the transition from the world of broadcast tv to web-based video production, its promises and challenges in a rapidly changing media marketplace. If you’re headed to SXSW, be sure to come by and check out the provocatively titled panel “Screw the Big Screen, We Have the Web!“. This is part of the epic Austin festival’s all new premiere category, “The Digital Domain“, which combines the increasingly colliding worlds of film and tv with interactive digital media.

All this week, the team will be in Oslo, Norway, filming behind-the-scenes at the Oslo Freedom Forum. Here’s a description of this exceptional event focused on drawing the world’s attention to human rights:

This is a three-day experience like no other. The Oslo Freedom Forum provides a unique venue for pioneers and entrepreneurs in the realms of advocacy, business, academia, politics, media, and technology to gather and collaborate on how best to make an impact on the world around them.

Forty men and women—advocates for human rights, innovators, public intellectuals, and survivors of tyranny and oppression—present engaging talks to an audience capable of and interested in affecting change.

The Economist magazine, a favorite here at Emergent Order, called the Oslo Freedom Forum “A spectacular human-rights festival… on its way to becoming a human rights equivalent of the Davos economic forum”.

We’re honored to have been invited by Thor Halvorssen, president and founder of The Human Rights Foundation which created and produces the Oslo Freedom Forum, to participate and help raise awareness for such a moving and powerful global event.
